Child Psychiatrist Lerman To Present At NWH Session On Anxiety In Children

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. --  Dr. Alexander Lerman, attending child and adolescent psychiatrist at Northern Westchester Hospital, will present at an education session, "Developmental Anxiety and the Middle-School Child" on Wednesday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester Hospital's Conference Center.

Lerman will present an enlightening conversation about the common causes of anxiety for children and the various strategies to help them handle stress.

This discussion, part of the hospital’s ongoing speaker series, will focus on ways to help children overcome anxiety and instill confidence.

Lerman is presently in full-time private practice in Chappaqua and he is a clinical instructor at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a lecturer at the Columbia University Psychoanalytic Center.

He worked previously on the Westchester County Mobile Crisis Team, as the director of Psychopharmacology at the Summit School in Nyack and as a physician at a variety of other agencies and institutions. 

Lerman graduated cum laude from Downstate College of Medicine in 1987. Lerman completed an internship in internal medicine at Kings County Hospital, and residencies in both Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the New York Hospital Westchester Division. He completed psychoanalytic training at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.
