LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The annual arrival of Independence Day also means it is time for Antiques in the Church Yard, South Salem’s traditional event held at Stevens Memorial United Methodist Church. This year will bring the 21st annual sale.
When the church bells toll at 9 a.m., Thursday, the barrier comes down and customers rush in, quickly filling the aisles in search of collectibles. Meanwhile, the customary Pancake Breakfast is served from 9 to 11 a.m. inside the church. If you skip breakfast, there will still be plenty to eat all day long, with assorted foods and treats offered by South Salem’s Horse & Hound Inn and Kettle Corn.
Here are just a few of the myriad items that will be offered by 120 dealers from eight different states: early toys, antique maps, vintage hardware, Art Deco objects, English Staffordshire china, Roseville pottery, vintage clothing, ironstone, samplers, fine art from all periods, furniture, lamps, garden accessories, books, sports memorabilia, jewelry, bottles, trade signs and bookends.
Collector/appraiser Jay St. Mark invites everyone, from novice to advanced collector, to join him for a free one-hour booths tour. He will discuss items of note and answer your questions. Meet him at the church entrance at 10 a.m.
The 21st Annual Antiques in the Church Yard begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. The last admission will be taken at 4:30 p.m. The admission price is $7 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Admission proceeds will benefit the church’s charitable works.
The cost of the Pancake Breakfast is $6 for adults and $4 for children. For further information before the event, call 914-273-4667. For information during the sale, call 914-589-1355.
