CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- Customers hoping to find last-minute storm supplies Monday afternoon are in luck. DeCicco's in Cross River says it received shipments Monday morning of such staples as water, bread, milk, canned goods and even some beer.
According to store owner Frank DeCicco Jr., DeCicco's will remain open as long as it's safe to do so. He cautions that some of the service departments such as seafood, meat, bakery, deli and prepared foods may only be partially open.
Forecasters say the brunt of Hurricane Sandy is expected to be felt between noon and 12 midnight Monday. The storm is expected to bring widespread power outages.
