Le Chateau's new owners, Elegant Banquets, has proposed expanding the former South Salem French restaurant by 5,000 feet, according to Lewisboro Ledger.

The grand mansion sits on a hill off Route 35 and was run by the Lozach family for more than four decades, a Daily Voice story says. Le Chateau closed in February.

Built in 1907 by J.P. Morgan for the Rev. William S. Rainsford, the estate was originally known as Savin Rock. It was later occupied by Col. Fredrick Sansome, the former owner of Converse Farm in Greenwich, Conn., who liked to entertain White House dignitaries there.
