The purveyor of T-shirts, hoodies and jeans, beaten down by rivals such as H&M and Forever 21, filed for bankruptcy yesterday, just one month after PacSun, which catered to wannabe Californians, did the same, according to a report by Fortune magazine.

As part of its restructuring strategy, Aéropostale plans to close 100 of its approximately 800 stores, media reports said.

Its sales during the last holiday quarter dropped 6.7 percent, Fortune reported.

Of the 100 stores it plans to close, the closest to our area are on Fulton Street in Brooklyn and in Times Square in Manhattan, according to the Fortune report.
