  Hopefully the same bill will get rid of the toll on I-95 north of New Rochelle. I go out of my way to avoid that one as well (which is more expensive - $1.75).

  When you don't require your passengers to buckle up, especially children, it becomes more complicated. I will not start my engine until everyone is buckled. I certainly agree that drivers who use a cell phone or text (?!!!) while driving should be hung by their thumbs. But it's easier to spot someone without a seat belt than someone using a cell phone. I'm grateful that the police are going after any of these fools.

  Not necessarily true. When they have an accident and are hurt, it's the ambulance, fire, and police personal that must deal with it. People wearing sea tbelts are typically injured less than those not and are easier to extricate. I recall not being able to get a victim out from under the brake and gas pedals (!) and out from underneath the dash board of a big old American car years ago. The majority of ems and fire personnel are volunteers who use their valuable time to help these people. It puts them more at risk as they must spend more time addressing the victims. They are also the ones who must notify the families if there are any when they are killed or pureed. Its not like seat belts are a new thing. There is no viable excuse not to wear one.
